Founded on Passion.
Driven by Beliefs
Bringing creative projects to life by making high-quality contemporary photography accessible.
THE ARTIST EDITION is a platform for emerging and established artists to fund their projects and publish books while expanding the public understanding and appreciation of contemporary photography.
Moving away from the principles of exclusivity, expensive addresses, price secrecy and hype of traditional galleries, THE ARTIST EDITION operates on inclusivity, larger editions, low overhead and transparent pricing.
Our virtual gallery business model, combined with over 20 years of working relationships with leading photographers, designers and printers, allows us to provide limited edition prints and books of outstanding quality for a mainstream global audience.
THE ARTIST EDITION will produce a bi-annual publication that showcases selected photographers’ artwork. In-depth interviews will investigate the photographic process and methodology from the individual artist’s point of view. The unique design, imagery and superior art book quality of the publication will make it a collectible in its own right.

The Founders
STEEN SUNDLAND. After graduating from college, Steen pursued a professional career as a photographer, first in Copenhagen and then in Paris, New York and London. Steen’s graphic composition, edgy casting and lighting has been his signature in his 20 years of collaborating with editors, art directors and publishers in international fashion. With publications such as Paris Vogue, ID, Self-service, Numero, Interview, Vanity Fair, W, Harpers Bazaar, British Elle, British GQ, Italian Marie Claire and Rolling Stone among others. In 2018 Steen felt the need to change direction away from commercial photography to focus on creating a new body of personal work and the artist driven virtual gallery, The Artist Edition.
MARTIN FARRAN-LEE started his career in Art Direction and Graphic Design in Stockholm. He moved to London to become Art Director for Blueprint and Arena magazines, as well as designing books and exhibition catalogues for the Hayward Gallery, the Royal Academy of Arts and Phaidon.
